Previously published as Uncle Sam #1-9 by Quality Comics. With #9 it changed title to Blackhawk and ran until #107, again, published by Quality. DC then took over and the title ran from #108-243 before being suspended in Nov 1968.
The title resumed with #244 in Jan/Feb 1978 and ran for a further 7 issues to #250 before being suspended again in Jan/Feb 1977. Unable to keep a good title down DC began the title run again with #251 in Oct 1982 and it ran until its final issue #273 in Nov 1984.
From issues #108 through to #241 nearly all the covers were by Dick Dillin and Charles Cuidera as was most of the interior art. The other artist to appear in this run was Sheldon Moldoff.
